Fashion label Y/Project is closing down, according to a Thursday statement on the brand’s website.
“After 14 fruitful years, Y/Project has made the challenging decision to stop operations,” the company said. “Y/Project and the team thank all partners and Y/P supporters for their unwavering dedication to the brand throughout the years.”
The move comes following a difficult year.
In July 2024, the brand’s co-founder Gilles Elalouf died. CEO Pascal Conte-Jodra left shortly afterward, and in September, creative director Glenn Martens exited his role. In October, WWD reported that Y/Project was up for sale after being placed into receivership in September.
In its statement, the Y/Project thanked Martens, Conte-Jodra and Elalouf “for giving their team the space to create and grow.”
Martens is also the creative director of OTB-owned denim brand Diesel, a role he took on in 2020 while also working at Y/Project.
The move comes amid a challenging period for luxury fashion, which has led to earnings declines at companies including LVMH, Kering, Richemont and other firms. Last year also saw the closure of high-end brands such as Mara Hoffman and The Vampire’s Wife.
