Dive Brief:
- Victoria’s Secret & Co. launched its VS & Pink Adaptive line on Tuesday, per a company press release. The line was first shown during New York Fashion Week in September.
- The collection, designed for people with disabilities, is available in Victoria's Secret's Body by Victoria and Pink's Wear Everywhere lines. It offers magnetic closures and front adjustable straps, and each piece is mostly made from a recycled polyamide and elastane blend that the company says is “sensory-friendly fabric.” The line includes bras, bottoms and period underwear, and each piece is offered in seven colorways.
- Everything in the line was developed with the support of disability consulting and talent management company Gamut Management, and items were designed by “incorporating direct feedback from people with disabilities throughout every step,” per the release, which included wear-testing, focus groups and feedback panels.
Dive Insight:
The collection is a first for Victoria’s Secret, which joins a small but growing roster of companies designing clothes for people with disabilities. Other innerwear companies offering adaptive collections include Skims, Liberare and Slick Chicks.
Outside of innerwear, companies including Seven7 Jeans, Kohl’s and QVC have also expanded their lines to include adaptive clothing.
“Having VS and PINK Adaptive available in both Victoria's Secret and PINK's most popular collections, featuring easy wearability and comfort in such beautiful styles and colorways is incredible — and we are so proud to share them both online and in select stores to meet the needs of women with disabilities,” Janie Schaffer, chief design officer at Victoria's Secret, said in the release.
The collection is available as of Tuesday in select Victoria's Secret stores and through the company’s website. VS Adaptive bras are being offered in cups B to G and bands 32 to 44, while VS Adaptive bottoms are available in XS to XXL. Pink's Adaptive bras are available in cups A to DDD and bands 32 to 42, while Pink's Adaptive bottoms are available in sizes XS to XXL. Prices range from $16.50 to $49.95.
In August, Victoria’s Secret reported Q2 net sales of $1.4 billion, representing a 6.2% decline year over year. Earlier this year, the company expanded its Amazon collaboration by offering an extended product assortment and a streaming, shoppable fashion show. Its Pink brand also recently relaunched.
