Vestiaire Collective has named Lauren Picciano as its head of global communications on Monday, according to a release sent to Fashion Dive.
Picciano will be based in the company’s New York offices and will oversee the brand’s communications strategy via multiple channels, including corporate communications, consumer public relations, and influencer and celebrity relations. She’ll report to Marie-Christin Oebel, Vestiaire’s global chief marketing officer.
“We are thrilled to have Lauren Picciano join Vestiaire Collective, bringing her expansive knowledge and experience in the luxury fashion market to our leadership team,” Oebel said in the release. “Picciano’s appointment is critical in expanding Vestiaire Collective’s brand awareness and impact in North America, but also around the globe.”
Picciano brings more than 15 years of experience to the role, and previously oversaw public relations, celebrity and influence at Saks. While there, she established “first-of-its-kind holiday partnerships between the company and former first lady Michelle Obama,” as well as similar partnerships with the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance program, and a collaboration with Elton John and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, per the release.
She also worked in public relations for Hearst, where she was the primary PR counsel for Town & Country and Marie Claire. Additionally, she was the manager of PR, social media and special events at Bergdorf Goodman, and the director of PR & Marketing at La Perla.
“I’m proud to join the passionate team at Vestiaire Collective, whose mission not only aims to bring the best in pre-loved fashion to consumers around the world, but also creates a positive environmental impact for us all,” Picciano said in the release. “I look forward to contributing to the team’s ongoing success and taking the company’s vision to new heights.”
Vestiaire has been beefing up its C-Suite this year. Oebel was named to her role in February at the same time that Samina Virk was appointed its CEO for North America.
Meanwhile, the luxury resale platform has been deepening its relationships with key brands. March saw the launch of Gucci Preloved with Vestiaire Collective, which built on an established partnership between Vestiaire and Gucci parent company Kering. Vestiaire has also collaborated with Alexander McQueen, another Kering brand.
In 2021, Kering and Tiger Global Management invested $216 million into Vestiaire in a financing round that resulted in Kering taking a 5% stake in Vestiaire.
Vestiaire was founded in 2009 and has offices in London, Berlin, New York, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh and Hong Kong. It has warehouses in Tourcoing, France; Crowley, UK; Hong Kong and New York.
