Todd Snyder’s first collection as creative director of Woolrich’s new Black Label line dropped in North America on Thursday, according to a press release sent to Fashion Dive.
Black Label debuted at Pitti Uomo in January, and the first collection is a 65-piece menswear collection featuring two distinct lines, called Heritage and Technical, per the release. Prices range from $128 for a snood to $1,498 for a parka, and pieces will be available exclusively in the U.S. on the e-commerce platforms of Snyder and Woolrich.com, as well as in select Todd Snyder stores.
The Heritage line will offer reinterpreted versions of pieces from Woolrich’s 190-year history, such as an updated plaid shirt in cashmere, a new version of the Woolrich Arctic Parka, a cowl neck fisherman’s sweater and merino base layering pieces.
“It felt very fresh to start with outdoor styles and then refresh them in more modern silhouettes and premium fabrics,” Snyder said in the release. “I wore Woolrich as a kid, and so transforming their iconic pieces into styles for the modern adventurer was a dream come true.”
The Technical Line is designed for practical outdoor use, and features outerwear, boots and ripstop nylon pants.
“The more I’ve worked on the Technical line, the more I’ve been excited about designing clothing that can handle the demands of the great outdoors and be the statement pieces in a city wardrobe,” Snyder said.
Before joining Woolrich, Snyder worked at Polo Ralph Lauren, Gap and J. Crew, and launched an eponymous label in 2011. His brand was acquired by American Eagle Outfitters in 2015 as part of its acquisition of Tailgate Clothing Company, which owned Todd Snyder New York.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg-based private equity firm L-Gam acquired a majority stake in Woolrich in 2018.
