Charles de Vilmorin has left Rochas after just two years with the company, according to WWD.
De Vilmorin had been with the French luxury fashion house as its creative director since February 2021, when he replaced previous artistic director Alessandro Dell’Acqua. At the time of his hire, Rochas called it a “new era” for the nearly century-old brand.
In a statement to WWD, Rochas said its contract with de Vilmorin had not been renewed and that the designer left the company on March 31.
De Vilmorin, 26, entered the international fashion scene during COVID-19 when he launched his self-titled collection on Instagram, shortly after graduating from the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.
De Vilmorin contributed four collections to the brand.
“We would like to thank Charles for his contribution to the legacy of Rochas. His creative vision will have a long lasting impact on the brand’s universe,” Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interparfums said to WWD.
Interparfums acquired the Rochas brand from Procter & Gamble in 2015, and Rochas fashion and footwear is produced under license by HIM Co.
