Gap is expanding its partnership with Sean Wotherspoon, its global vintage curator, to release GapVintage, a series of curated Gap vintage clothing drops, according to a Jan. 27 press release.
The program’s first drop releases Tuesday and will include Gap pieces from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, sourced by Wotherspoon, per the release. Gap didn’t specify how many drops there would be, but the release said the company would include seasonal and themed drops.
The retail price range will vary, but the initial drop includes a 1990s striped pocket T-shirt, classic logo hoodie and nylon anorak windbreaker, priced at $55, $85 and $90, respectively, per the release. It also includes a 1980s denim jacket hoodie priced at $90.
The collection will be available online in the U.S., with an exclusive collection sold in the company’s Flatiron store in New York.
“I’m excited to see Gap take curated control over the supply of its vintage product and renew this program in an even bigger way since we pioneered it almost two years ago,” Wotherspoon said in the release. “As the vintage and secondhand market continues to grow and resonate among younger generations, I’m looking forward to bringing GapVintage to the hands of today’s youth around the world.”
Gap first partnered with Wotherspoon in 2023 on a collection of vintage Gap items that he curated. That collection included logo tees, shirting, shorts, denim dresses, jeans and outerwear from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
At the time of that announcement, Gap teased that it was planning further projects with Wotherspoon.
In December, the company launched an elevated subbrand called GapStudio designed by Gap Inc. Creative Director Zac Posen.
