Gap has collaborated with Harlem’s Fashion Row to release a 16-piece collection that includes the work of six Black designers, according to a press release Wednesday.
The collection, a celebration of Black History Month, launches Friday in select Gap stores and through its e-commerce platform. Each designer created two custom shirts and one hoodie, which Gap said gives the brand’s traditional silhouettes a creative twist.
The collection is made in collaborations with five labels: A.Potts, BruceGlen, Kaphill, N’Gai and Richfresh. Prices range from $89 to $129.
Harlem’s Fashion Row is an agency that works to build relationships between brands and designers of color through brand strategy, collaborations, marketing, recruiting and pipeline programs.
Gap has partnered with the agency since 2019 on various industry events, collaborations, educational programs and investments at historically Black colleges and universities, among other initiatives, per the release.
Brandice Daniel, CEO and founder of Harlem’s Fashion Row, said in the release that the agency’s partnership with Gap expands beyond fashion into creating opportunities and amplifying the voices of designers.
“This collaboration is especially meaningful as it represents the evolution of our shared vision to reimagine possibilities for designers of color,” Daniel said. “Together, we’re not only celebrating creativity but also fostering a legacy of inclusivity and empowerment that will inspire generations to come.”
The collection will be presented during an event Thursday at Gap’s San Francisco headquarters.
