Outdoor clothing brand Filson appointed former Eddie Bauer CEO Tim Bantle as president, the company said Wednesday.
Bantle is tasked with leading the heritage brand into its next phase of global expansion. As Filson grows, Bantle will work to introduce the brand to new markets “while staying true to its deep heritage and dedication to high quality craftsmanship,” the company said in its statement.
Bantle's career also includes a stint at VF Corp. as general manager of VF Canada, as well as executive roles at Black Diamond Equipment and Patagonia, per the release.
Filson is owned by Bedrock Manufacturing Company, which also owns accessories and lifestyle brand Shinola. In the release, BMC highlighted Bantle's ability to help cultivate and grow unique, legacy driven brands.
Bantle’s experience in multiple geographies gives him an understanding of diverse markets and consumers, per the company.
“Tim has an exceptional track record of developing strategic plans that drive long-term, sustainable growth while preserving the unique heritage of each brand he has led," Steve Katzman, CEO of BMC, said in the release.
Bantle succeeds Shawn LaRowe, who was president from February 2023 until March 2024, according to a company spokesperson. LaRowe now works as chief product officer at Pelican Products, per his LinkedIn.
Bantle will report to Katzman, who is also a relatively new hire for BMC. Katzman took on the CEO role in June 2024. At the time of his hire, he said the company was at a pivotal moment, and said he was eager to accelerate both brands.
Also last year, the Filson brand expanded into womenswear. Its initial collection included outerwear, shirting and accessories.
