Beyoncé is releasing a couture fashion collection designed with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing, according to Vogue France, which broke the news Friday.
Rousteing teased the outfits in multiple Instagram posts Friday, alongside a photo of Beyoncé wearing a look from the collection for the cover of Vogue France’s April 2023 issue.
In an interview for Vogue, Rousteing said he had been listening to the singer’s 2022 album on repeat and was inspired by it. “I contacted Marni [Senofonte, Beyoncé’s stylist] and B. And I said, ‘honestly, I want to create a couture collection with you.’ And they were like: ‘Wow, that’s a big surprise,’” he said.
Each look corresponds to a song on the 16-track Renaissance album, Beyoncé’s seventh solo effort, which was released last summer. The pieces include metal bustiers, feathered gowns and velvet jumpsuits, and 13 of the looks were released on the Balmain website as of Friday.
The collaboration debuted the day after Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Beyoncé severed her relationship with Adidas, and would no longer work with them on her activewear line Ivy Park, a partnership that began in 2018. While THR cited “creative differences,” neither Beyoncé nor Adidas have released a statement on the matter.
