Collaborations also served as a buoy for footwear brands on the platform, according to the report. Timberland sales grew 184% during the time period on StockX, which the company attributed to its increased marketing investment and partnerships with Supreme and Louis Vuitton. Crocs sales grew 52% in the period, and StockX said its recent character collaborations with “Naruto,” “Spongebob Squarepants” and “Toy Story” performed well.
“We’re seeing the power of creativity, marketing, storytelling and innovation from smaller brands driving meaningful shifts in market share away from the largest brands who have struggled to keep pace,” StockX CEO Scott Cutler said in a press release sent to Fashion Dive.
The report also noted recent apparel sales statistics, with streetwear brands showing growth.
Denim Tears moved from the third fastest-growing apparel brand in 2023 to No. 1 this year, per StockX. The company cited Denim Tears’ collaborations with Levi’s and Offset to help it reach the top spot.
Prada took the top spot in fastest-growing accessories, with a 560% year over year growth, which StockX attributed to the Y2K trend. The brand’s re-nylon collection, which includes bucket hats and shoulder bags, and its Symbole sunglasses helped boost its sales, per the report.
