Just in time for the start of American football season, British clothier Charles Tyrwhitt and the New York Jets have kicked off a multi-year partnership with a limited edition capsule, released Monday.
The six-piece capsule heavily features Jets team colors of Gotham green, stealth black and spotlight white, and it includes two button-down Oxford shirts, a cotton polo, a merino wool sweater and a merino zip-up bomber, plus a vest that will be released in September.
Prices range from $119 to $159, and sizes run from XS to 3XL. The clothing sports Jets logos, and the entire line is available online via the brand and team websites, as well as through the Fanatics online shop. The collection will also be offered in Charles Tyrwhitt’s six New York-area stores as of Aug. 28, plus the Jets shops at MetLife Stadium during regular season home games starting on Sept. 11, according to WWD.
The agreement and initial announcement for the collection came last year and are part of a larger effort by the National Football League to expand its reach abroad through its International Home Marketing Area initiative. This is the first clothing partnership announced in the UK for the NFL’s IHMA program, which was designed to give the NFL’s 32 football teams the right to pursue and bid on international markets.
The larger push to co-brand fashion and sports has led to several unlikely partnerships this year. For example, Prada announced it would work with the China women’s soccer team during this year’s recently-concluded Women’s World Cup. Meanwhile, LVMH said it would partner with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024.
