Music’s biggest night tends to offer one of fashion’s more offbeat red carpets as performers try to outdo each other’s rock-star energy.
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, provided sartorial theatrics and celebrity drama. It also provided community support for people affected by the recent wildfires in the region.
While some of the style choices played it safe with old-school glamour looks similar to what was seen at last month’s Golden Globes awards, there were also fresh takes on this year’s biggest trends, including sheer, sparkles and bright colors.
Here are some of the Grammy fashion trends from last night that will resonate with consumers throughout the coming months.
Opera night
There are few looks more dramatic than a full-length, sweeping opera coat. Plenty of musicians channeled that energy, including Kelsea Ballerini, who wore Tamara Ralph Couture’s white opera coat over a black minidress; Madison Beer, who wore a spring-summer 2015 nude and beaded strapless gown and mint green coat by Miss Sohee; and Brittany Howard in a custom A. Potts outfit.
Opera gloves also were having a major moment, as seen on musicians Beyoncé, who wore a sparkling custom haute couture gold gown and matching over-the-elbow gloves by Schiaparelli; Kehlani, who wore long black gloves with her custom pinstriped corset peplum gown by Robert Wun; and Chappell Roan, who walked the red carpet in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2003 couture ballgown, feather headpiece and sheer blue opera gloves.
Sheer delight
Pushing the envelope is part of what musicians do best, and some of the evening’s boldest outfits walked the line between quietly demure and nearly naked.
Model Chrissy Teigen wore a strategically corseted sheer black gown from Christian Siriano’s spring-summer 2025 collection, while musician Victoria Monét wore a barely-there halter gown with a sheer cape from Oude Waag’s spring-summer 2025 collection, which featured cutouts, another big trend for the night.
Other musicians sported a more modest version of the sheer trend, including Gracie Abrams, who wore a white Chanel gown featuring a sheer headscarf, and Troye Sivan, who wore a Prada outfit featuring a sheer lilac shirt and scarf paired with a lilac and gray satin suit.
True colors
Many musicians wore head-to-toe black, albeit with rock-star twists.
Olivia Rodrigo wore a vintage 2000 black cutout halter gown by Versace, while Miley Cyrus wore a custom cutout leather gown by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. Lady Gaga went big in a voluminous skirt and black corseted leather jacketed by Vivienne Westwood, as did Rich the Kid, with an ultra-wide shouldered black suit by Annakiki.
Red also made a big impact. Taylor Swift wore a custom red Vivienne Westwood beadedc minidress with a chain, while Tori Kelly wore a red long-sleeved gown with a train by Valdrin Sahiti, and Mandi Moore wore a red cape-sleeved gown from Stella McCartney’s resort 2025 collection.
Pastel blue and pale gray also made appearances, such as with Sabrina Carpenter’s custom baby blue feathered halter gown by JW Anderson, and Charli XCX’s wispy gray custom couture gown from Gaultier by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.
Heavy metal
A dazzling array of satin, sequins, rhinestones and glitter made musicians on the red carpet sparkle and shine.
Cardi B was unusually understated in a custom Roberto Cavalli sequined gown with a tiger print and a feathered train, while Kacey Musgraves wore a gold sequined Ralph Lauren Collection skirt with a plain white tank top and a silver belt made by Jimmy Begay Jr. in partnership with Shiprock Santa Fe Gallery.
Raye wore an Armani Privé black silk organza gown with a sparkles on the corseted bodice, while Babyface wore a Balmain suit with rhinestone lapels and Alicia Keys wore a black Dolce & Gabbana adorned with a gold waist trainer and matching headdress.
Cynthia Ervio wore a custom Louis Vuitton gown with a high-necked silver inset, and Shaboozey also opted for silver in a matching custom Diesel jacket and fringed scarf.
The wild side
It wouldn’t be the Grammys without some unconventional outfits that defied classification and turned heads.
Actor Jaden Smith stood out in a Dora Abodi headpiece and a Louis Vuitton suit, while musician Sierra Ferrell wore a white iridescent bridal gown, pearl-embellished headpiece and matching scepter by Jeffrey Kelly Designs.
Some musicians chose unusual suits, such as Billie Eilish, who wore a boxy Prada look with a sailor hat, and Doechii, who wore multiple Thom Browne suited looks for the evening.
Other musicians went for an ultra-feminine vibe, such as Poppy, who wore a poufy tulle and satin Simone Rocha babydoll dress and platform heels, and Clairo, who wore a pouf-sleeved white and polka dot dress by Miss Claire Sullivan.
Meanwhile, some music producers chose a more casual approach to the evening. Shawn Everett wore a red Adidas zip-up dress and matching tights, while producer Mustard, who won three Grammys and announced a collaboration with condiment company Heinz, looked completely at home in a chunky knit cardigan and loose black pants.
